pdftomd.tools is a free online PDF to Markdown converter that runs entirely in your browser using Mozilla's pdf.js, so files never leave your device. Drop a text-based PDF, preview the Markdown, then copy or download a .md file. It keeps headings, paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists, simple tables, and monospace text as code blocks. Useful for preparing documents for ChatGPT/Claude, Obsidian notes, and Git repo docs. Also offers MD to PDF, batch conversion, and a "clean AI artifacts" mode. Scanned PDFs need OCR, which it does not run. Pricing: Free.
