User Guide

A practical walkthrough of High Tech Attic — what you can do free, what membership unlocks, and how each feature works.

1. What this site is

High Tech Attic is a classifieds-style board for indie SaaS builders, marketers, testers, designers, co-founders, and collaborators. People post Offer or Wanted listings, browse the discover feed, message each other, discuss in the forum, and (optionally) buy sidebar ad slots. Deals happen off-platform — we connect people; we do not process collaboration payments between members.

2. Free vs Member

  • Anyone (no account): browse the discover feed, open listings, and read public profiles and the forum.
  • Free account: same as above, plus favorites and a personal dashboard. You cannot post listings, comment, DM, review members, or post in the forum until you become a member.
  • Member ($9 one-time): post up to 10 listings, comment, send DMs, report content, leave member reviews, and post in the forum. No subscription — pay once.

Buy membership from Pricing or Dashboard → Settings. Checkout is handled by Stripe.

3. Your profile

  1. Sign up, then open Dashboard → Settings to set display name, username, bio, up to 3 profile links, and avatar. Optional search keywords (comma-separated) help others find you on Members — they are not shown on your public profile.
  2. Choose your member type (developer, marketer, or both) and what you're looking for.
  3. Your public page lives at /u/your-username and shows your published listings and reviews.

4. Classified listings

  1. Go to Dashboard → Member. You have 10 slots — one listing per slot.
  2. Create a listing: title, short and long description, Offer/Wanted, role (developer, marketer, co-founder, partnership, tester, SEO, designer, or other), categories, platforms, optional images (up to 3), YouTube/TikTok videos, links (http/https only), and hashtags.
  3. Each listing has a Visibility switch on the edit form. Turn it on to publish (shown in Discover); turn it off to save as a draft again (only you can see it — your slot is not freed). Use this to hide a listing without deleting it. If someone opens a draft link, they are sent to a short notice page instead of seeing the listing.
  4. Editing a published listing can bump it to the top of “Newest.” Content edits are limited to 3 per day per listing so the feed stays fair.
  5. Others can like/dislike, comment (members), favorite, and message you about the listing.

5. Discover, members & favorites

  • Home / Discover: filter by type, role, category; sort by newest, most liked, or most active; search titles and descriptions.
  • Members: browse member profiles, ratings, and favorites (signed-in).
  • Favorites: save listings or members from their pages for later.

6. Messages (Inbox)

Members can start a 1:1 or group conversation from a profile or listing. Open Dashboard → Inbox to reply, add participants, or remove a chat from your side (other people keep it until they delete it too).

7. Forum

Browse threads freely. Posting new threads or replies requires membership. Use categories for general discussion, show-and-tell, help, collabs, and introductions. Keep it civil — reports go to moderation.

8. Reviews

Members can leave a 1–5 star review (with optional text) on another member's profile. The reviewee can reply. Reviews help others judge collaboration fit — be honest and fair.

9. Reporting & safety

Report listings, comments, forum posts, DMs, and reviews with the report control. We review the queue and may remove content, revoke membership, or permanently ban. Serious issues: support@hightechattic.com.

10. Ad slots (optional)

Members can rent one of 20 sidebar slots for $99/month from Advertise or Dashboard → Sponsor. Ads show in desktop sidebars (rotating) and a mobile strip. Cancel anytime; the slot stays live until the current period ends.

11. Listing roles

Each listing picks one primary role so the right people find it:

12. Revocation & rejoining

Breaking the rules can revoke membership. Listings are paused (hidden) and kept for about 30 days so you can rejoin and restore them. Permanent bans blacklist the email and block repurchase. Details: Terms and FAQ.
